Large language model (LLM) applications such as ChatGPT may seem well suited to guiding close examination of an artwork. They can draw on extensive knowledge about artists and their work, and they can readily conduct a dialogue through Socratic questioning. Yet interpreting images has historically been far more difficult for AI than processing language.

We tend to regard art as a quintessentially human endeavor. Can artificial intelligence create and discuss art in ways meaningfully comparable to human artistic practice?

My exploration of AI Art has not only deepened my appreciation for both historical and contemporary artists but has also led to countless inspiring "discoveries," with many more on the horizon. The Synthetic Emulation and Reinvention Images (SERI) projects are my way of sharing this adventure—a tribute to the immense joy and creative inspiration these artists have given me.
